Venue and directions
The Advanced Course will be held in the University of Algarve, at the Campus de Gambelas, in Faro. Beware that the University of Algarve has two campuses: Campus de Gambelas (Advanced Course), located near the airport, and another in the city centre of Faro (Campus da Penha). The Campus de Gambelas is located 6 km from the city centre of Faro, 3 km from the airport, and 6 km from Faro Beach. Ways to get to Campus de Gambelas from Faro downtown:
- City bus service Proximo line 18. The trip takes about 20 min and bus ticket will cost 2.70 € (one way) (You can buy it with the bus driver. Please have some change).
- Uber or Bolt (We strongly recommend it).
- Taxis are available in several places in the downtown area, but you can ask the hotel to call you one or call +351 289 895 790/5.
Faro
Faro is the capital of southern Portugal's Algarve region, with breathtaking natural landscapes, such as the Ria Formosa Lagon and sandy beaches. The city has an international airport (Faro Airport - FAO) with connections to many European cities. There are train and bus connections to Lisbon and Oporto and international Bus lines to several Spanish and European cities. A train or a bus from Lisbon to Faro takes between 3 to 4 hours. Most localities in the Algarve and the border with Spain are within 1 hour from Faro.
The airport is located 6.5 km from the city centre and you can get a bus, taxi, Uber and Bolt.
- By bus: The bus to go to Faro city centre is Proximo line 16. The trip takes about 15 min to reach the city center, and costs about 2.70€ one-way. The stop is located to the left after exiting the arrival, near the short stay car park. The bus stop is located in the opposite direction to the taxi rank. You can find more information below.
